Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
The Journal of Integrated Education, Society, and Technology (JIEST) is fully committed to upholding the highest ethical standards throughout the editorial and publication process. To ensure rigorous quality assurance, the journal guarantees the utmost professionalism from all stakeholders—including journal managers, authors, editors, and reviewers. JIEST strictly adheres to the principles established in COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors, outlined as follows:
Duties of Editors
-
Publication Decisions: The Editor-in-Chief holds ultimate authority over the journal's editorial content and publication scheduling. Editors evaluate submitted manuscripts exclusively based on their academic merit (significance, originality, validity, and clarity) and relevance to the journal’s scope, without regard to the authors' race, gender, or institutional affiliation.
-
Confidentiality: The editorial board and management staff are strictly prohibited from disclosing any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and the publisher.
-
Peer-Review Process: All manuscripts undergoing formal review will subjected to a double-blind peer review by at least two independent experts in the respective field.
Duties of Reviewers
-
Contribution to Editorial Decisions: Peer review assists editors in making informed editorial choices and, through constructive communication, helps authors refine and improve their manuscripts.
-
Confidentiality and Integrity: Any manuscript received for review must be treated as a confidential document. It must not be shown to or discussed with others unless explicitly authorized by the Editor-in-Chief.
-
Objectivity and Argumentation: Reviews must be conducted objectively. Reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting evidence and arguments, avoiding personal criticism, so that authors can effectively improve their work.
-
Conflict of Interest: Any invited reviewer who has a conflict of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the manuscript must immediately recuse themselves to ensure an unbiased evaluation.
-
Source Acknowledgement: Reviewers must identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.
-
Ethical Use of Data: Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in a reviewer’s own research without the express written consent of the author. Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must remain strictly confidential and never used for personal advantage.
