Archive Policies

Journal of Integrated Education, Society, and Technology (JIEST) recognizes the immense importance of long-term preservation for scholarly research. To ensure that all published articles remain permanently accessible, secure, and discoverable by the global academic community, the journal utilizes a multi-layered digital archiving strategy in accordance with international standards for Open Access journals.

1. Permanent Digital Preservation (LOCKSS & CLOCKSS)

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) systems through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. These decentralized archiving networks allow participating libraries worldwide to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration.

  • The LOCKSS system enables the creation of a distributed archiving system among participating libraries, allowing them to form permanent archives of the journal.

  • The CLOCKSS system provides a secure, dark archive that guarantees long-term preservation and permanent open access to the journal's content in the event that the journal is no longer actively published.

2. National and Institutional Repositories

To comply with national regulations and further safeguard metadata, JIEST automatically and systematically deposits its published contents into several key repositories:

  • National Library of Indonesia (Perpustakaan Nasional Republik Indonesia / Onesearch): Ensuring long-term preservation at the national level.

  • Indonesian Scientific Journal Database (ISJD): Managed by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).

  • Garba Rujukan Digital (GARUDA): Maximizing indexing, discoverability, and preservation across Indonesian academic networks.

3. Self-Archiving and Author Repository Policy (Sherpa/Romeo Compliance)

JIEST supports the self-archiving of published articles. In alignment with green open-access standards, authors hold copyright and are permitted—and encouraged—to post and share their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories, subject repositories, or on personal/professional websites) under the following conditions:

  • Pre-print: Authors may archive the pre-print version (manuscript before peer review).

  • Post-print / Accepted Manuscript: Authors may archive the peer-reviewed version after it has been accepted for publication.

  • Version of Record (Publisher's PDF): Authors are highly encouraged to archive the final, official publisher’s PDF version to ensure accurate citations, referencing, and digital object identifier (DOI) mapping.

4. Metadata and Website Security

All article metadata, including abstract text, author indexing, referencing data, and the full-text PDFs, are securely backed up on a regular schedule across multiple cloud-based servers. In the event of technical server maintenance, hardware failure, or catastrophic data loss, the journal management ensures complete recovery of the archives via the OJS core database structure with zero degradation of content integrity.
