Author Guidelines

Author Guidelines
Currently, the JIEST is accepting new manuscripts for consideration for publication. The journal welcomes scholarly articles dealing with integrated perspectives in education, society, and technology, as well as specific methodological guidance designed to assist authors in preparing their manuscripts for the journal.
The peer-review process, including double-blind and open review, at JIEST requires all submissions to be sent in electronic format using Microsoft Word formats, either DOC or DOCX. Authors are requested not to submit compressed files. Submissions to JIEST should be made through the automated online submission process. Material submitted to JIEST should be original, coherent, understandable, and interesting, and must not be under consideration by another journal. Only manuscripts written in British or American English will be accepted; language style must be consistent throughout the manuscript. Additionally, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, and the mechanical elements of manuscripts should be reviewed carefully prior to submission. If funding or grant money is used in any aspect of the submitted work, this support should be acknowledged in the manuscript content.
JIEST manuscripts must conform to APA 7 standards as outlined in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association 7th edition, 2019, with the exception of tables, graphics, and figures. Manuscripts should be written in Times New Roman font, 12 point; double-spaced; with one-inch margins throughout. When needed, authors should use footnotes, not endnotes. JIEST is an open-access academic journal; there are no fees for authors or readers at any time.
Length: JIEST welcomes research manuscripts that are approximately 5,000–8,000 words in length, inclusive of references, appendices, footnotes, figures, tables, and other supplementary materials. Accompanying the manuscript should be an informative abstract of 200–300 words. Abstracts should include meaningful information that will help readers understand what the full manuscript addresses. In general, abstracts should include information regarding the objective or purpose, background, setting, participants, intervention, research design, data collection and analysis, results, conclusion, and implications. For the main text, meaningful headings and subheadings should be used to organize manuscript content.
Title Page: Title sheets should not be included in research manuscript submissions. Research manuscripts submitted to JIEST are reviewed through a double-blind review process; therefore, authors must ensure that all identifying information has been removed, including university name, author’s name, location, acknowledgements, and any other details that may reveal the identity of the author.
Citations: Authors should follow the APA author-date method of citation within the text. Whenever applicable, page numbers should be provided for direct quotations. References must be listed in alphabetical order by the author’s last name. All names of contributing authors should be included in the references. When listing journal articles in the references, authors should include both the volume number and issue number, regardless of how the journal is paginated. Additionally, all JIEST articles listed in the references should include complete bibliographic information, including volume, issue number, and page numbers.
Example:
Siregar, N. C., Rosli, R., Maat, S. M., & Capraro, M. M. (2019). The effect of science, technology,    engineering and mathematics (STEM) program on students’ achievement in mathematics: A meta-analysis. International Electronic Journal of Mathematics Education, 15(1), em0549. https://doi.org/10.29333/iejme/5885
Tables, Figures, and Graphics: All tables, figures, and graphics must be embedded in the correct locations within the document to ensure that copyeditors know the proper placement of such material. In addition, these items corresponding with the manuscript must also be submitted as separate or supplementary files.
Author Self-Archive Policy: Authors are permitted and encouraged to post items submitted to JIEST on personal or institutional websites, both prior to and after publication, while providing the complete bibliographic details of the publication.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions to the JIEST must meet the following requirements:

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it currently under consideration by another journal, unless an explanation has been provided in the “Comments to the Editor” section.

  • The manuscript text must be double-spaced, written in Times New Roman 12-point font, and use italics rather than underlining, except for URL addresses. All illustrations, figures, and tables must be placed within the text at appropriate points, rather than at the end of the manuscript. All figures and illustrations must also be attached as separate files.

  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of JIEST, such as the Research Articles section, the instructions for double-blinding the manuscript must be followed.

  • The manuscript text must adhere to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines of the JIEST.

  • The submission file must be in Microsoft Word format, either DOC or DOCX. Once accepted for publication, authors are requested to use the JIEST Paper Template.
